SoundCloud Introduces Advertising Business in Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland

Today, SoundCloud, the world’s largest open audio platform, is introducing advertising to its free listening experience in Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland enabling brands the opportunity to reach a new, highly engaged audience while continuing to give music fans access to tracks from established and emerging artists from around the world.

The free, ad-supported experience includes audio advertising, in-stream native and video ads, which are available to brands programmatically and directly through an exclusive agreement with leading reseller, Targetspot. The agreement expands on the existing partnership between the two companies in other European markets, including France, Germany and The Netherlands.

“SoundCloud is the first place listeners go to discover what’s next in music, and connect with the over 20 million creators who are starting and building their career on the platform,” said Mike Weissman, Chief Operating Officer at SoundCloud. “The introduction of advertising in these countries offers brands the ability to reach this unique, connected community, and ensures listeners can continue to experience SoundCloud for free while offering creators the opportunity to be paid for the work they share.”

“We are thrilled to broaden our partnership with SoundCloud to provide advertisers in Spain with this extraordinary opportunity in terms of reach.  Combined with our innovating technology and leading expertise, it is the perfect match to maximize digital audio advertising. Brands will be able to perfectly target, one-to-one, the highly engaged SoundCloud’s audience and optimize the return on ad spend” said Erik Portier, Targetspot Chief Revenue Officer.
